After 1983, Dutch shipbuilders reinvent themselves. What have the shipyards learned from the past?

One thing the Dutch shipbuilding industry has learned above all is the need to work together. Various attempts were made to try to get the industry to join forces in the 1990s. While these experiments were not always successful, the seed was sown. Although competition between shipyards remains intense, it is understood that competitors are also colleagues, and more can be achieved by joining forces. Shipbuilding has become a far smaller industry. Yet the smaller scale has made shipyards more efficient and flexible than the shipyards of yesteryear. And no longer depending on government money.
