At the Maritime Museum Rotterdam, you can see real ships and special historical models. Why do they stay afloat? And what do you actually need on board? Discover it for yourself with fun family activities. Come aboard during the spring break, from 14 to 22 February!
Floating adventure
Build your own ship and test whether it floats in the water channel. Turn on the fan and stopwatch and find out how fast your ship sails!

Enjoy colouring
Let your creativity run wild! Bring the ship, the waves and all the adventures to life. Leave your artwork in the collection box in the entrance hall and you could win a great prize!

Fold your fleet
Fold your own boat from prints of historical maps and decorate it however you like. Make several and hang them together as a beautiful banner!

Talking with flags
At sea, you don't communicate with words, but with signal flags. What message do you send to other ships with your flag?

Knot your keyring
On board, you need to be able to tie knots properly. Learn how sailors do it and make your own key ring from real ship's knots!

Reading aloud for little sailors
Settle down in our museum library and listen to maritime stories from the children's books that you can purchase in our museum shop.

Audiotour (only in Dutch)
Join Mees and Aunt Jane on a journey of discovery through Rotterdam. A telephone and earphones are required. Please remember to bring your phone and earphones.

Join the boat tour
Complete your museum visit with a tour through the Maritime District on our electric boat. Along the way, the skipper will tell you all about the history of this area and show you the most beautiful spots. If the weather permits and the skipper is available, we sail twice a day.

Port Pavilion
In the Leuve Pavilion, where our workshop is also located, you'll find Port Pavilion. This information point shows you the harbor side of Rotterdam.
Step inside our forge
See up close how the blacksmith helps maintain our fleet. When the blacksmith is present, a spectaculair demonstration is often given.
