Christmas holidays at the museum

Are you looking for a fun activity for children this Christmas holiday? There is plenty to do and experience at the museum for both young and old adventurers.

Don't miss this! 

Have you heard of 'Plons! The Future of the Sea'? This is our interactive exhibition for children aged 4 to 12.

Please note: you must reserve a time slot before your visit. You can do this online when ordering your tickets. On busy days, slots fill up quickly!

Tech on deck!

Come along on an adventure into the world of technology! What exactly is inside these devices? Use tools, your hands and our AI assistant Tinky to first take these devices apart and then transform them into unique decorations.

Colouring page

Maritime stars

In the past, sailors used to look at the stars and maps to determine their course. Would you like to use those same maps to fold a beautiful star?

Sea animals are celebrating

What do sea creatures do during the holidays? Let your imagination run wild and decorate the underwater creatures.

Flag celebration on board

Flags are very important at sea. A flag shows which country a ship comes from, just like a passport. Ships can also use flags to send messages to each other. Flags are part of seafaring traditions and are used to decorate festive occasions. Join and make your own!

Story time at the library

Settle down in our museum library and listen to the most beautiful and exciting children's stories.

Audiotour for kids (only in Dutch)

Join Mees and Aunt Jane on a journey of discovery through Rotterdam. A telephone and earphones are required. Unfortunately this is only available in Dutch.

Join the boat tour through the maritime district

Rondvaart met de fluisterboot door het Maritiem District

Complete your museum visit with a tour through the Maritime District on our electric boat. Along the way, the skipper will tell you all about the history of this area and show you the most beautiful spots. If the weather permits and the skipper is available, we sail twice a day.

  • Times: 12:30 tot 13:15 en 14:00 tot 14:45
  • Prices: 0-3 years €2,50 | 4-15 years €4,50 | 16 years and older €6,50

Port Pavilion

In the Leuve Pavilion, where our workshop is also located, you'll find Port Pavilion. This information point shows you the harbor side of Rotterdam.

Step inside our forge

See up close how the blacksmith helps maintain our fleet. When the blacksmith is present, a spectaculair demonstration is often given.

The museum is open during the Christmas holidays.
We are closed on Christmas Day (December 25th) and New Year’s Day (January 1st).
