Christmas holidays at the museum

Are you looking for a fun activity for children this Christmas holiday? There is plenty to do and experience at the museum for both young and old adventurers.

Look and discover!

In addition to our permanent exhibitions, we organize extra activities for children every day during the Christmas holiday: creative workshops, colouring or crafting. Also have a look at the forge where the blacksmith, now and then, shows how to work the hot iron. If the weather permits, you can even join the whisper boats for a tour through the Maritime District.

Don't miss this!

Have you not yet visited the new children's activity exhibition 'Plons! The future of the sea'? This is our new children's activity exhibition for children aged 4 to 12. Don't miss this!

Please note! The exhibition is extremely popular, so it is important to book a time slot on time! This way, all children can get started, because the time slots ensure that the exhibition does not get too busy.

A workshop every day!

During these creative workshops, the children learn something new every time. Sometimes they craft with recycled materials or write and draw a beautiful story.

In addition, the coloring and construction plates are ready to be colored.

Of course, you end the day with a delicious drink and a snack in the museum café 'Het Lage Licht'.

For children aged 8 and up

The exhibition Offshore Experience is perfect for children aged 8 and up. Here, they can search for new clean energy and see if they have what it takes to work at sea.

In the Destination Port City exhibition, there’s an audio tour designed for children aged 8 and up. Together with Mees and Aunt Jane, they’ll travel through the exhibition in a virtual metro, learning more about Rotterdam, the port, and the people who live there. To use the audio tour, parents or guardians need to bring their own phone, headphones, or earbuds.

The museum is open during the Christmas holidays.
