Guess & Win: How many knots are there in the rope?
Win a free boat tour for four! Cruise through Rotterdam’s Maritime District on a whisper boat and discover the city’s most beautiful spots from the water. The Guess & Win competition is open on 5 and 6 September 2026. The boat tour will be raffled among the participants who submit the correct answer. The winner will be notified by 18 September 2026 at the latest. The boat tour tickets are valid until 31 October 2026. We take care of your personal data. 1. General
1.1 The “Guess and Win” promotion (the “Promotion”) is organised by Het Maritiem Museum Rotterdam, Leuvehaven 1, 3011 EA Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
1.2 These terms and conditions (the “Terms and Conditions”) apply to the Promotion.
1.3 The Promotion takes place in the Maritiem Museum Harbour.
2. Promotion Period
2.1 The Promotion runs on 5 and 6 September 2026. The winner will be selected on Thursday 10 September 2026. The winner will be notified by 18 September 2026.
3. Promotion
3.1 The jar containing the rope is located next to the Lighthouse on the quay. A sign next to the jar displays a QR code that takes participants to the webpage where they can submit their answer.
3.2 Participants must guess how many knots are in the rope and submit their answer via the webpage.
3.3 To enter the Promotion, participants must provide their name and email address. This information will be used to administer the Promotion and to contact the winner.
3.4 Participants under the age of 18 may only take part with the permission of a parent, legal guardian or carer.
3.5 Participation in the Promotion is only possible during the Promotion Period.
3.6 By entering the Promotion, participants have a chance to win four complimentary tickets for a boat trip on the Maritiem Museum’s electric launch through Rotterdam’s Maritime District.
3.7 Employees of Het Maritiem Museum Rotterdam and anyone directly or indirectly involved in organising the Promotion are excluded from participation. Museum employees are also not permitted to provide information to third parties that could give them an advantage in any way.
Het Maritiem Museum Rotterdam reserves the right to exclude from participation any participant who does not comply with these Terms and Conditions.
4. Prize
4.1 The prize is a boat trip on the Maritiem Museum’s electric launch through Rotterdam’s Maritime District for four people. The tickets are valid until and including 31 October 2026.
4.2 The prize will be awarded to the winner shortly after the end of the Promotion. The winner will be notified by Het Maritiem Museum Rotterdam in writing, by email or by telephone.
4.3 Only participants who have entered the Promotion correctly and in accordance with these Terms and Conditions are eligible to win the prize.
4.4 The prize cannot be divided or exchanged for another prize offered by the museum. If the winner refuses or does not accept the prize, the prize will not be awarded. No changes or additions to the prize can be made; the prize is as described above.
4.5 Use of the prize provided by Het Maritiem Museum is at the winner’s own risk and expense. Het Maritiem Museum cannot be held liable under these Terms and Conditions for any damage caused by or arising from the prize provided, including any failure or omission by third parties.
5. Protection of Personal Data
5.1 Personal data obtained by Het Maritiem Museum in connection with participation in the Promotion will be included in the museum’s records and will be treated confidentially and in accordance with applicable data protection legislation.
5.2 The information provided by participants will be used by Het Maritiem Museum to confirm the prize won, arrange delivery of the prize and analyse the effectiveness of the Promotion. If participants have given their consent, their details may also be used to inform them about future promotions and offers.
6. Liability
6.1 Het Maritiem Museum is not liable for any damage caused by or arising from participation in the Promotion.
6.2 Het Maritiem Museum is not liable for:
a. Any typing, printing or typesetting errors;
b. Any damage arising from the Promotion;
c. Any damage resulting from changes to or termination of the Promotion.
6.3 Het Maritiem Museum is not liable for services and/or goods provided by third parties in connection with the Promotion or the prize.
7. Final Provisions
7.1 Het Maritiem Museum reserves the right at any time, without giving reasons or prior notice, to amend these Terms and Conditions or discontinue the Promotion. In the event of any amendment or termination of the Promotion, this will be announced on www.maritiemmuseum.nl.
7.2 If one or more provisions of these Terms and Conditions are or become void or are annulled, Het Maritiem Museum is entitled to establish one or more replacement provisions that reflect the nature and purpose of the void or annulled provision as closely as possible, without themselves being void or voidable.
7.3 In cases not covered by these Terms and Conditions, Het Maritiem Museum will make a decision.
7.4 By participating in the Promotion, participants declare that they have read and agree to these Terms and Conditions as published on www.maritiemmuseum.nl.

7.6 These Terms and Conditions are governed by Dutch law. Any disputes arising from these Terms and Conditions or the Promotion shall be submitted to the competent court in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
