On Sunday the city kicks off the cycling festival with the chance for everyone to participate 'on wheels'. The Coolsingel is closed off to (motor) traffic and the time trial course is open to everyone. .

On Sunday, the first stage will depart from the Depot and return to the Glitterplein, where a fan zone has been set up. NORA – a POP concert' is a theatrical, explosive and feminist pop concert based on the character Nora from 'Een Poppenhuis' by Henrik Ibsen, in which Daniëlle Deddens sings pop/techno songs based on Kurt Weill's material and thus rewrites two male sources into a female one. perspectivef.

Especially for the Tour de France Famme, Rotterdam Circusstad comes to the museum harbor with two companies: Duo Kaos with the act Time to Loop, an act with bicycles and Fenja with the act Cyrrealism, an act with a large Cyr wheel in which they perform extraordinary and shows tricks that appeal to the imagination.

Duo Kaos with the act Time to Loop, an act with bicycles

The Italian Giulia Arcangeli and Luis Paredes from Guatemala specialize in partner acrobatics on bicycles, an unusual circus discipline.

The Netherlands' favorite means of transport, the bicycle, is central to this multi-award winning performance. The Italian Giulia Arcangeli and Luis Paredes from Guatemala specialize in partner acrobatics on bicycles, an unusual circus discipline. Elegant, a little romantic, in beautiful costumes and to newly composed music, they transport the audience in their search for the perfect balance.

O. Festival presents the eco-feminist punk band Herr Hamsterfleisch from Club Gewalt, which guarantees a great experience with hard punk songs and lyrical rock ballads: a powerful message of courage and emancipation.

Herr Hamsterfleisch pays tribute to the woman who is difficult to love with hard punk songs and lyrical rock ballads. To the old woman. The single woman. The unattractive woman. The disobedient woman. The woman picking mushrooms and drinking herbs. The woman who lives with the moon. An ode to women.

The Cyrwheel is a metal ring consisting of separate pieces that are usually screwed together tightly. Fenja uses her device without the screws, making it wobbly and unstable, questioning its perfection. Thus her wheel becomes a completely different device: Sometimes strangely curved, sometimes nimble as a snake and sometimes shattered into its individual pieces. The wheel is a metaphor for the imperfections of life and represents new perspectives that lead to beauty.

There will be enchanting calm moments, satisfying rhythms in movement, beautifully stunning technique and a poetic relationship between the object(s) and the performer.

Our museum café is open for coffee, tea, anniversary apple pie (for only €1.50) or a delicious lunch. Would you rather have something sweet? Ice cream parlor Loeve is also open and, in addition to award-winning ice cream, also offers pastries or a glass of wine.

July 13 -August 25: Summer holiday at the Maritime Museum.

Do it yourself, participate or watch and listen: there is something for everyone to experience this summer holiday. Get on board and go on an adventure in our exhibitions: search for new energy at sea in the Offshore Experience, travel from dam to world port with the virtual metro through Rotterdam in the exhibition 'Destination Port City' and get a sneak preview of our depot in the exhibition 'The Haven'. But there is more: there are extra activities for young and old every day this summer, for example: workshops, hands-on activities, treasure hunts, boat trips and reading moments where people read from exciting maritime books.

Also think about the maritime world of tomorrow. How can we ensure that our waters: oceans, lakes, ports and rivers remain passable and clean? Help plastic fishing in the Maritime District and discover what you can make from all that recycled plastic you can find in the water and on the quay.
