Maritime Network event – 8 June 2026

On 8 June 2026, the Maritime Museum and JINC are joining forces to offer third-year VMBO students a unique opportunity. On this day, 50 students will take their first steps in networking and get acquainted with the maritime sector. You, as a maritime professional, play an essential role in this!

About the network event

Imagine being 15 years old, talented, but knowing few people in your environment who can help you get a strong start in the job market.

You may find it intimidating to connect with an adult you don’t know yet, let alone ask that person for help.

In this program, students learn how to make contact and further develop their formal and informal communication skills. The program concludes with a Networking Event, where students and company employees engage in conversation, students put their newly learned skills into practice, and participants get to know one another better.

Together with maritime partners, JINC is committed to equal opportunities and the development of young people.

We are looking for trainers & conversation partners

Trainer:

09:00 - 12:00

  • Leads the morning training focused on networking and communication skills.

  • JINC provides preparation materials based on the training content. You will, of course, receive a briefing beforehand.

Conversation partner:

12:00 - 13:15

  • Participates in the afternoon networking event.

  • No preparation required. The conversation content is unknown to both student and participant, creating equality within the dialogue.

  • The host will introduce the conversation topics.

Practical information

  • Date: 8 June 2026
    Time: 09:00 – 13:15
    Location: Maritime Museum Rotterdam

Why participate?

The maritime sector is in urgent need of new talent, while many young people are still unfamiliar with the sector and its career opportunities.

  • Business professionals play an important role in strengthening students’ networking and career orientation skills. At the same time, this event may offer a great opportunity to connect with potential interns or future colleagues — after all, these young people are the future of our sector.

  • Participating companies will gain visibility during the event, including through logos and promotional materials. This visibility will also be reflected in follow-up communications through our social media channels.
