The Mastership
Everyone living in The Mastership Society is aware that they must rely on each other’s Mastership. Good decision-making depends on the combination of all Masterships. But what does it mean and how do you achieve it?

In this future we envisage that people will continue to learn throughout their lives. Regardless of your particular talents and interests. Whatever your chosen craft entails, you can strive for Mastership.
Do you see the tree in the centre of the city? That’s where people gather to rest and contemplate. Thinking over the possible next steps on their path of lifelong learning.
From an early age, people are guided by Lifelong Learning Platforms: these are educational networks driven by artificial intelligence.
The platforms get to know each pupil individually, meticulously mapping their personal values, challenges and particular talents. And the platforms connect them to other pupils, teachers and coaches that best suit them.
Having completed their apprenticeship, many become journeymen and join trade organisations such as independent guilds, craft commons, faculties and cooperatives. Peer-to-peer environments in which people learn, work and sometimes even live.
These trade organisations provide more than just a quality guarantee. They play an important role in their members’ social life. They host informal gatherings such as seminars, masterclasses and workshops, interspersed with social activities for young and old alike.
Within these craft institutions they can rise to the level of master or grandmaster when they meet the strict requirements. Therefor the completion of your masterpiece or doctoral thesis is an important ritual in each person’s learning journey, whether they become master carpenters or qualified lawyers.
